Crazy Juice “Put a hot doe in your pocket”

Crazy Juice Hot Doe is the first and only true Doe In Heat urine on the market. Their patent pending collection and bottling process ensures the urine never comes into contact with the outside air. This process of collection eliminates evaporation of the Buck Attracting pheromones from the urine. The pheromones are what make our product the best on the market.

-On target- The whole concept is brilliant. I used the stuff all season and had it work numerous times. I remember hunting northern Michigan during pre-rut and using the stuff. I stuck some on a wick about 20 yards from my stand. Come daylight I had about a 115 class eight point come right to it and lick the thing for 20 minutes. I would say it works.

-Off target- I would have to say price. There are very few of us out there that will pay $45.00 a bottle. I definitely think the product works but I think they need to come down on the price.

Darton Tempest Extreme

Darton’s 55 years of experience has evolved into the most advanced combination of shooting smoothness and speed ever designed by the infamous Darton Engineering team.

An Advanced CNC-machined riser and compact EFLex Pre-Loaded Limbs in a parallel configuration provide a forgiving 7″ brace height resulting in the best combination of speed and accuracy to date, boasting IBO speeds over 313 fps.

-On target- The smoothness is superb. One of the smoothest bows I’ve shot. Another great addition is the rubber grip. All bows should have this grip design.

-Off target- I experience slight string noise. I’ve talked with several archery shops and done some tweaking. If you have any other pointers let me know. Overall, I’ve killed several deer and hogs with it and haven’t had any problems with them jumping the string.

Roadside world record squirrel

Joe and his buddy take down potential world record squirrel. The word is they shot it just as it was heading into the street. Good thing it could of totaled a vehicle. Still waiting to see the actual weight of the animal.

Summit’s New Openshot climber

With its integrated seat/hand climber, the OpenShot™ gives you new options in your treestand arsenal. Either sit on the seat at hunting height, or spin it around and out of your way for the ultimate whitetail perch. Either way, you’re totally silent and extremely secure.

It doesn’t matter how far you’ve got to hike… the OpenShot will let you get there. And once you’re there, the whitetail world will be right at your feet.

-On target- Can I say lightweight? The total weight of 14 pounds makes it nice for us hard core hunters to get back where the big bucks roam. The seat is actually pretty comfortable and the thing climbs easy and quite. The climbing stir-ups are a nice touch and really make a difference.
-Off target- This climber doesn’t have the normal bar that goes around your body like most climbers. I want to express the issue of using a safety belt as you climb.

The new “Buck Kicker” from Woods Wise.

The Buck Kicker “The latest growling buck grunter” (GRADE B+)

Woods Wise Products has been building calls for over 20 years and has now introduced a deer call with attitude. Basically attitude says it all. If your looking for a call that makes its point I suggest you try the Buck Kicker from Woods Wise Calls. The Buck Kicker comes with features such as aggressive LOUD grunts, demanding hot doe bleats, convincing lost contact calls, and the ever so popular snorts and wheezes.
-On target- After trying out the call I found it easy to blow which is always a plus. The sounds it produces mimic some of the natural sounds I’ve heard while hunting the rut. The megaphone design really amplifies the call for greater aggression and realism. I really recommend using it during a horn rattling sequence. The grunts from the call really seemed to lure the big boys into bow range.

-Off target- Well, I didn’t have a massive 20 point run right in and pose broadside or anything but if they made a call that would do that I’d sure have one. The call performed well. A little reed stickage in the cold temperatures but most exhale calls do.

Rocky Top Ranch

Well, my trip to Rocky Top Ranch was unsuccessful. Being that I only got to hunt for one full day makes it tough. I did see my share of deer just didn’t get the big buck in bow range.

The morning hunt was slow. I was positioned on top of a ridge where the owner, Joe Robison, had taken several big buck pics with his trail cam. Only the invisible deer were moving in the area. Joe picked us up at 10:00am and took us back to the lodge for a home cooked lunch.

The evening sit looked to be more promising. My cameraman, Kale Biggs, and I found ourselves in the same tree with hopes of catching Mr. 12-pointer with his guard down. It wasn’t long before two does wondered in. I was just about to tag one when I heard something in the woods coming our way. It was a wide 4-point, not what I wanted. After watching the buck and does feed below me for about an hour Kale catches a glimpse of a good buck trailing a doe about 100 yards down the fence line. I let out several grunts but the buck seemed to have other things on his mind and chased the doe into the timber to never be seen again.

All in all, it was an exciting hunt. Saw a nice buck, good home cooked meals, and a couple that wanted to make sure my stay was pleasant. I made sure to mark a date for next season.

Thanks Joe and Judy Robison.

My Bow hog from Rocky Top Ranch

Recently, Rocky Top Ranch suffered a huge loss when a building on their property caught fire. The building contained treestands, feeders, blinds, 4-wheelers, etc.  They are now trying to rebuild what they can and make ends meet.  All products that are review pertaining to what they lost, I will donate to them.  Wish you the best Rocky Top.

TV Hunting Shows

Realtree Road Trips

(GRADE: A)

Road Trips continues to deliver a different side and feel to outdoor shows. Michael Waddell brings excitement, humor and likeability to the field each week. Waddell and his team continue to get it done under pressure, delivering entertaining TV and 1st class productions,

-On Target- Hosting, Michael no doubt makes the show. Show after show, Waddell and others in camp continue to bring with them an excitement and humor that is highly entertaining. The production team exhibits great knowledge of how to produce a solid product.

-Off Target- Michael is a big fan of country music. So am I, but come on, do we need to bring a country singer on every show? We know they got the money to go on awesome hunts, so let’s see some less fortunate hunters get the chance to hang with Waddell.

Hunting DVD’s Reviews

Realtree Road Trips Season 3

(GRADE: A)

This is just the TV series put to DVD with additional footage. If you missed any of the action and Waddell moments, you might want to ask for this in your stocking. Realtree does a great job of putting this one together.

-On Target- They’re not afraid to bring a little different style to the outdoors and the bonus features add a lot.

-Off Target- Hey what do you know; a country singer goes with Waddell to Alaska and he also does a little turkey hunting with another.
