Mathews new DRENALIN

If your pulse is pounding, it’s a DRENALIN, the new ‘SlimLimb’ bow from Mathews! DRENALIN’s next-generation SE3 composite ‘SlimLimbs’ are thinner, lighter and tougher.

Thinner - The SE3 Composite Limbs on the Drenalin measure just 1 1/8′ wide.
Tougher - The SE3 Composite Limbs are tough. In fact, cycling tests prove SlimLimbs last over twice as long as typical lifetime-guaranteed limbs.
Lighter - The Drenalin weights in at 3.85 lbs.
Faster - 320 fps IBO
Quieter - The Drenalin features Harmonic Dampers, Roller Guard, Perimeter-weighted cam, string suppressors and parallel-limbs to help reduce vibration and noise.
COOLER - The Drenalin feature Realtree All Purpose Repeat camo.

On Target- Mathews makes great bows. Ok, I said it, like everyone didn’t already know that.

I have started the 2007 season with the Drenalin and so far it has proven itself worthy of making my “Best bows ever list”. The one thing I notice right off the bat was that I wouldn’t have to load it up with limbsavers, silencers, etc. The thing is quiet enough. Along with that the thing is ultra smooth. Sometimes I ask myself did I just shoot an arrow. Mathews isn’t telling you it’s something it’s not. It’s a lightweight, small, quiet, fast, and good-looking bow that with a little practice will have you miraculously shooting 180’s. Well, will know Mathews is really good when they can guarantee that. It makes you wonder what’s next.

Off Target- I know you can probably pick apart a post-it note and find ways to make them better. I tend to not dig to deep on products I critique but I do throw a couple disappointments to the public. You gotta love it though.

I have never been a big fan of the wooden grip. I find that you feel the shock of the bow a tad more than with the rubber grip. I would also say that there is not much difference than it an the Switchback XT. On paper there are differences but shooting them side -by-side there is very little. Has Mathews peaked on their performance and bow specs?

I say go to your local retailer and test one. Most likely you’ll be pulling out the plastic. www.mathewsinc.com

Great reviews! I know the Drenalin is a nice bow… but I have already heard of several owners with broken limbs. These limbs have broke within 2 months of purchase. All breaks are at the same place. There are also posts of broken limbs on the Mathews forum, almost weekly.(http://forums.mathewsinc.com/). The moderator(s) usually delete the posts within a few hours, so look quick. Any thoughts before I upgrade? Thanks

WOW, That’s the first I’d heard. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll look into it. I know I heard something about the PSE limbs snapping but not the Drenalin.

    Scary…

Interesting. I have been looking the internet over about the Drenalin limbs and have found nothing. I shoot Bowtech and lately have had two of my buddies by the Guardian. Both had their limbs crack. Not good. Does anyone know anything about the Guardian and if this is happening to anyone else?

    Thanks

I bought the drenaline after I wasted 700 on the hoyt trycon last year. I went to the trycon from a Mathews legacy which was great, up wanted a new bow. I was so upset with the trycon I ordered my drenaline before it was ever released. I’ve been shooting it since dec 15, 2006. I shot an indoor league with 40 shooters many of them shooting target equip. I ened up shooting 3rd with my hunting equipment.
As far as Bowtech goes i’ve always heard they have limb problems. I also heard its becouse they use a cheap grade of fiber glass.

Fellas, I just spoke to a Pro shooter and his reply on the subject was as follows.

“People take it way out of proportion. The reasons the parallel limbs snap or break is because they have been put in a press wrong.”

Parallel limbs have to be treated differently. There is a correct and safe way of pressing them and this goes for all bows.

I hope this put some of you at ease.

Sorry to hear this. I think every brand has had it’s round of cracked bows. It sucks and the company should cover the bow no matter who owns it. They should cover it to just protect the name. Have you written them a letter?

just to ad i have shot virtually every bow on the market ,have shot for 3 major companys including mathews and bowtec both wonderful companys and both make out standing bows both are producing some of the finest bows in the world and in my 32 years in this sport i’ve seen about every gimickout there both these companys are the real deal and I assure any one bowtech limbs are not cheap mathews might have pioneered parallel limbs but bowtech took it to the extreme with the extreme vft have owned 2 of them including one being a 90 lb. samson version of this bow and have harvested 2 boon and crocket bucks 1 being a 193 grosstypical Ia. monster. the other a 185 gross typical Ia. monster and this bow has performed perfectly.I just purchased a mathews drenalin a month ago so far this bow is amazing no problems so far and I push bows to the limit including shooting them at 4 grains per pound . hope this shines some light on the subject. the Ice man,mr.3-D from the great state of Iowa

I purchased a Drenalin last April. I shoot 5 grains/lb. I never knew a bow could shoot so smooth after the shot. I am able to keep my red dot on the target after the release. I shot leagues and won second place in outdoor 3D. Anyone having negitive results is not properly set up. Crank limbs down to max, get proper spline (stiff side is better) and keep your accessories simply. I use an expensive scope, Rip Cord rest with some old stabilizer I had. Bow is quiet with very little vibration. My experience with the Drenalin has exceeded my expectations.

    Good day.

I have bought a Mathews Drenalin bow last year September. 5 weeks ago one of it’s limbs broke while it was fully drawn. It sounded like a gun shot. After they replaced the limbs under warranty one of the limbs broke off again under full stress.

I exchanged my broken bow for a new DXT, becaused I have herd from the dealers that Mathews have apparently solved the problem. But I doubt it strongly, because the DXT I own now makes the same crackling noises as my Drenalin which broke twice at the limb turret when I start to load enrgy into it.

I am a Mechanical Engineer and would like to have discussions with the responsible designers of all the Drenalin bow series. But Mathews locked this subject.

If anyone can comment on this, I will appreciate it greatly

    Regards
    Adriaan

I purchased a Mathews Drenalin in July of this year(’08 for future reference). I love it. Have had no problems with it. I shoot at least fifty arrows out of it every day. It is almost silent, it is the quietest bow i have ever heard, and vibration free. I have not heard of any cracked limbs and know many tournament archers and pro shop owners who would not hesitate to speak up had they heard about them. The drenalin is a great bow.

  17. mathews dxt owner on 16 Nov 2008 at 7:21 pm

Bought the DXT a month ago. Probably had about 500 arrows it. Noticed today that the top limb at the limp turret had a splinter. Pretty disappointed for a $800 plus bow to last only a month. Will try to get the limp replaced from Mathews and I hope the problem is isolated.
