About the Critic

I, Paul Biggs, grew up watching hunting shows like some other kids Saturday morning cartoons. I’ve always been an avid outdoorsman and intriqued with outdoor video productions. I went to college and graduated with a TV/Video production degree and have worked in the outdoor industry ever since. I have produced, edited, and filmed for numerous outdoor hunting shows including Jimmy Houston Outdoors, Scent-Lok’s wildlife Point Blank, Jack Brittingham’s World of Hunting, Gene Pearcy Outdoors, Woods Wise Products, Paul Newsom’s Great Outdoors, Outdoor Connections, and my own work “Big Time Outdoors.”

In addition, I am also a Xtreme Outdoors Pro staffer and part of the Myoutdoorzone.com’s Zone Team.

I am not here to tell you what to buy or what product is better. I’m simply here to give you a little info about a product along with what “I” think about it. I’m here to lay out what others are scared to and I’m not going to hold back. Outdoorcritic.com is not for everyone, it’s not a “tell you what you want to hear,” hold hands in the stand picnic.

Think of this site as a place where you, the customer, can come to hopefully make your decision easier on a questionable product. And, think of it as a place where companies can come to and see what customers are saying about their products. In return, will help them in their decision making on future innovations.

I hope when you leave my site you will have gotten at least one good thing out of it. I wish everyone the best and good luck in the upcoming seasons. “HUNT HARD”

Thats quite an impressive resume! Look forward to reading more about yourself and your products.

I am still baffled at all the doe urines out there today, could you do a review on the top 5 ??

    thanks!

  2. Blake Tomjanivich on 15 Dec 2006 at 10:13 am

    Paul,

I like your site and I agree with Randy that you have an impressive hunting pedigree. Some time soon you need to do a top 5 for North American hunting species. I am also interested in the top 5 duck guns on the market and their prices. Let me know if I could help you field test. Merry Christmas.

  3. Big Time on 18 Dec 2006 at 1:52 pm

Sure you can help. I can’t even attempt to try every product on the market. Just post your thoughts. Thanks

Intersting concept for this website. Don’t really agree with the reviews however. Rating JBO over Drury Brothers…are you kidding me. Nonetheless I like your website….look forward to reading more.

  5. Roger on 20 Dec 2006 at 10:40 am

I want to see you start calling people out on there camera tricks and hokey set ups after the kill….some of these guys try to be so slick. Its funny how you will be watching a stalk and all of a sudden the camera is in front of the hunter….hmmmm. Now why is that necessary? These shows are just becoming over produced and i find it harder every time to believe anything these guys say when it doesnt seem like a real hunt.

  6. Big Time on 20 Dec 2006 at 10:57 am

The reviews will only get better. I love it when the cameraman has already found the deer and the hunter says, “Ole there he is”. There are tons more things like this. Just keep checking back each week.

  7. Rick on 04 Jan 2007 at 11:14 am

You need the calling out section. that would be hilarious.

  8. Don Jolley on 04 Jan 2007 at 11:15 am

Hey, I’m a videographer for outdoor shows. Do we really want to lay out our secrets? come on now.

  9. Big Time on 04 Jan 2007 at 11:20 am

I think it would be fine. I’ve filmed for several years also. The viewing audience is getting smarter anyways. I’ll put something together.

I really appreciate your reviews; it helps me make a decision about what to buy. Also, I love reading what everyone else says.

    I love your logo! Outstanding!

Paul, I like to read your reveiws and watch the hog hunt even though hog hunts are over-rated. Really, I just can’t hit one.

    Paul,

I think I will use some of your critic comments and anaylsis for my classroom to help them with book reviews. What do you think?

Besides the Drury brothers being dorks. I don’t think anything gets on my nerves more than when they call themselves professional hunters. That is the biggest crock of ****. What is a professional hunter? Someone who has good land or with good deer and the money to spend on optimizing it. I know it takes a lot of time and effort to fix a deer haven up, but that doesn’t make you a pro hunter based on the land you own and how you fix it up. I would like to see more public land hunts. I even like a hunting approach such as Tred Barta. Maybe not as extreme but somewhere in between.

  33. mad max on 01 Feb 2007 at 9:08 pm

oh yeah and ty biggs which has a bigger neck? you or your 150 inch pig

Cool site, interesting opinions, nice content. I’ll check back.

  38. 4x4hunter on 20 Feb 2007 at 11:40 am

Critic, Some of your reviews are whack and some are on target. Interesting points

I have to give you credit for speaking out.

  39. Bob Lott on 21 Feb 2007 at 1:12 pm

I just read your comments on our show, Bighorn outdoors, and I liked it. Bighorn Outdoors has been getting better literally by the show. Tom King, Host and self-taught editor of the show, has worked very hard and come along way. We welcome constructive critisism, because it gives us an idea of what the viewers want to see. Were always interested in making the show better. Thanks

  40. BoBBy on 27 Mar 2007 at 1:36 pm

Well done Critic. I Like what your doing. You gotta speak the truth.

  41. John on 18 May 2007 at 2:06 pm

You need to review the Block target. Maybe those guys will take your picture and put it in a magazine. “The Critic prefers the Block”

I can see it now. lol

  42. Bowman on 27 Jun 2007 at 8:55 am

Nice reviews. I like the site.

    Good Luck huntin

This was my first compound bow purchase.
In regards to the Drenalin, have you ever looked at the geometry/mechanics of the delivery? I purchased th 2007 Drenalin and had difficulty in achieving good arrow flight. I then educated myself to the dynamics of it’s geometry. The delivery actually is not pendicular with the string and cams, it’s offset. If you set up the bow to achieve optimal performance in regards to parallelism and perpindicular delivery with the cams and string you can not shoot a fixed broadhead because it wll kiss the riser.
    Does anyone have any respones?
    Eric
